Flavel House

Astoria, Oregon is right on the Oregon-Washington border. There are several historical landmarks, but the most significant and impressive was the Flavel House. The Flavel House was built in the nineteenth century and was home to a sea captain who helped other boats navigate through the Columbia.

One thing I loved about the house was that it was self-guided. While I have met many friendly and knowledgeable docents, sometimes it is nice to be able to go on a tour in your own group and on your own time.

Another good tip to remember is that the Flavel House has AAA discounts off their tickets! Keep that in mind if your are in Astoria.
